Ankara condemns Russian raids on civilian facilities in Idlib, Syria

The Turkish foreign ministry has strongly condemned the raids launched by Russian fighter jets against a mosque, hospital and other civilian facilities in the Syrian city of Idlib, Anadolu Agency reported

A statement issued by the foreign ministry on Tuesday said: “It is clear that the Russian Federation, which claims it supports a political solution in Syria and an understanding to stop the clashes, has flouted these principles openly.”

The statement also said that the Assad regime and Russia have added, on Tuesday morning, a new crime to what they have already committed in Syria, pointing to the bombing operation carried out by the Russian fighter jets against El-Watani hospital, El-Abrar mosque, and other civilian facilities in Idlib.

The statement pointed to the result of the attacks in Idlib, noting an estimated 60 civilians were killed and nearly 300 injured.

“We call for mercy for those who lost their lives in those attacks, and we wish a speedy recovery to those who have been wounded, and we expect the international community to assume greater responsibilities without delay against those crimes committed by the Syrian regime and Russia, which cannot be justified before history and human conscience,” said the ministry.
