Yemeni government returns to Aden

June 7, 2016 at 10:03 am

The Yemeni government returned on Monday to the southern city of Aden to exercise its duties after months of temporary residence in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Anadolu news agency reported.

This is the first time that Prime Minister Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher has returned to Aden since he was appointed prime minister on 3 April.

The source said that the prime minister was accompanied by all government ministers, except those participating in the peace talks in Kuwait.

The government ministers will reportedly exercise their duties from the Mashiq presidential palace in Crater city.

The Yemeni government has been preparing Aden to become the temporary capital since recapturing it from Houthi rebels and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh in July last year.

Al-Qaeda and Daesh have launched a number of attacks in the city.
