Secret police document details suspected criminal activity by Israeli lawmakers

Israeli media sources have revealed a secret police document detailing suspected criminal activity by lawmakers, Israel’s Channel 2 reported Tuesday.

Channel Two said on Wednesday that a confidential document prepared by the Special Investigations Unit of the Israeli police shows the involvement of ministers and members of the Knesset in crimes and criminal irregularities.

The channel noted that the discussion revolved around a document that was based on “confidential information” regarding these officials collected by the Israeli police.

The document named Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan as one of the public figures suspected of involvement in criminal offenses during the time of his position as minister of environment and the minister of telecommunications in previous governments. He has not been subject to investigation or held accountable.

Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein met Wednesday to discuss the recently leaked secret police document.

The head of the Police Investigations and Intelligence Department Meni Yitzhaki was also present in the meeting, according to reports in Hebrew-language media.
