Media Director at Jordan Customs Department Jihad Al-Hajji said on Tuesday that the border closures between his country and Iraq and Syria has led to a decline in the number of Arab and foreign vehicles moving to and from Jordan.

“For sure the number of vehicles coming or leaving Jordan will decline in light of the closure of three customs centers; the Ramtha and Jaber on the Syrian border and the Karama border with Iraq,” Hajji told Anadolu news agency.

According to the official, last year witnessed a decline in the number of vehicles coming or leaving Jordan with a total of 515,000 vehicles compared with 728,000 in 2014.

According to Hajji, as many as 189,000 vehicles have entered Jordan and 181,000 have left since the beginning of this year.

Hajji said the drivers’ nationalities included Iraqis, Saudi Arabians, Emiratis, Syrians, Kuwaitis, Lebanese, Turkish and other nationalities.
