The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said his country and Turkey will most likely resume cooperation in regards to resolving the Syrian crisis after the leaders of the two nations agreed to restore ties in a telephone conversation earlier on Wednesday.
Lavrov said during a visit to France that he would discuss the Syrian crisis and other issues with his Turkish counterpart on the side-lines of a regional summit in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi on Friday.
The Russian presidency said that Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had sent a letter of apology to President Vladimir Putin for shooting down a Russian airplane near the Syrian border.
The Russian president also sent his condolences to the Turkish people following the terrorist attack on Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul which left 41 people dead and 239 injured.
