Israel extends travel ban of deputy leader of Islamic Movement

July 14, 2016 at 12:33 pm

Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri renewed the travel ban issued against the deputy leader of the Islamic Movement in Israel Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

Speaking to Anadolu, Al-Khatib said that he received a notice saying the ban had been extended for another month after his six month ban was due to end soon.

The renewal was issued on “security” grounds.

“This will reinforce our pride in our religion,” he said, “Whatever you [Israeli authorities] do and however many restrictions you place on us, we will stick to the values of our religion.”

In November last year, the Israeli occupation authorities banned the Islamic Movement in Israel led by Sheikh Raed Salah, who was later imprisoned, and closed tens of organisations, including charities and orphanages over alleged links to the movement.
