Kremlin: Russian strikes in Syria are not retaliation for pilot’s death

The Kremlin has denied reports that its recent actions in Syria have been in retaliation for the killing of a Russian pilot, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said yesterday.

“The Russian Aerospace Force operation (in Syria) continues, all this is done within its framework,” Peskov told reporters.

Russia’s Defence Ministry announced on Tuesday that its bomb launchers had carried out an aerial bombardment which targeted a large Daesh camp in Syria and a terrorist warehouse that contained ammunition and military armoured vehicles.
