Daesh claims responsibility for downed Libyan warplane

August 11, 2016 at 4:31 pm

Daesh downed a warplane which belongs to the Libyan unity government early yesterday in the city of Sirte, Libya, the group’s news agency Amaq claimed

The spokesperson for Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces, which is affiliated with the Libyan government, said a warplane fell as it took part in the government’s strike on Daesh sites in Sirte, adding that the cause “could not be determined”.

Amaq said that the militant group targeted the plane above Sirte and killed its pilot. The fate of the second pilot remains unknown.

This is thought to be the first incident of its kind since Al-Bunyan Al- Marsoos began its operation in May.
