Members of the West Bank Al-Aghbar family in Nablus accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) security services on Friday of murdering their son, Al-Resalah has reported. The family has challenged the official narrative about the death of Khalid Al-Aghbar who, the PA claimed, was killed during a manhunt looking for “outlaws” in the city.
According to the family, the PA narrative is refuted by eyewitnesses, who insist that Khaled was arrested alive and taken from Al-Faqouse neighbourhood to Al-Sheikh Abu-Musallam where he was murdered. A family statement called for an independent investigation to which the eyewitnesses can give their accounts.
Khalid Al-Aghbar spent two years inside Israeli jails but, his family explained, he had never been wanted by the PA security services over any breach of the law.
During overnight clashes involving PA security services in Nablus on Thursday, two officers and two civilians were killed. Al-Aghbar’s family expressed its condolences on the “tragic” death of the officers, calling them “martyrs killed for the sake of the state.”
