Rafah crossing to be open to humanitarian cases

The Rafah crossing will be open on Saturday and Sunday for humanitarian cases and for foreign passport holders, a Palestinian official said.

Wael Abu Omar, a Gaza Interior Ministry official, told Ma’an: “Egyptian authorities informed us that the Rafah crossing would be owned on Saturday and Sunday in both directions for humanitarian cases and foreigners.”

The Palestinian embassy in Cairo thanked Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and all those who work to reduce the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

The third group of pilgrims leave Gaza today heading for Saudi Arabia. Eight hundred pilgrims passed through the crossing today as part of a three day period during which Rafah has been opened to allow them to leave the enclave.

Some 787 pilgrims travelled through the border yesterday, nine were returned by the Egyptian authorities without explanation.
