Kuwait seizes 160kg of drugs smuggled from Iran

Kuwaiti security authorities have seized 160 kilogrammes of cannabis from smugglers who attempted to smuggle the drugs via Iran.

Three men were arrested on Wednesday after the Drugs Control General Department foiled the plan

One, a Gulf national, was arrested in possession of drugs. During questioning, he gave the names of his two accomplices. Both have a history of smuggling via sea.

Since March last year, Kuwaiti authorities seized drugs worth 10 million Kuwaiti dinars ($33.1 million) which were smuggled via Lebanon, there has been a crackdown on drug and weapons smuggling throughout the country.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in London refused to comment.
