A meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Russia is currently not being considered, the Kremlin said yesterday.
“This meeting is not on the agenda at the moment,” Russian presidency spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said to RT news agency, adding: “You know that the special presidential representative for the Middle East was in the region, he continues his work, he continues his contacts with the corresponding sides.“
Abbas confirmed that he is ready to meet Netanyahu at any place and time.
“Let me declare once again that I will go to a meeting set in Moscow or in any other place in the world because dialogue is the only way of returning to peace talks that would allow our independent state to live in peace alongside the state of Israel,” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said.
