Protesters in Tripoli held a protest on Friday in which they called on the Lebanese government to expel the Syrian ambassador. The demonstration in the north Lebanon city took place after a court charged two Syrian intelligence officers of blowing up two mosques there three years ago, Anadolu has reported. Dozens of worshippers were killed in the attacks, with hundreds more wounded.
Senior leaders of Tripoli’s Sunni Muslim community took part in the protest in Al-Nour Square. They also called on the government to file a complaint against the Syrian government at the UN Security Council.
According to Anadolu, the protestors called on the Lebanese interior minister to cancel the permits of two local political parties which support the Syrian regime of Bashar Al-Assad.
