The first direct flight from Algeria to Hungary has taken off from the north African nation for the first time in 25 years.
The Air Algerie flight set off from Houari Boumediene Airport in the Algerian capital of Algiers heading for the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Travellers said the new direct flights would allow them easier and cheaper trips between the two countries. For decades people have been forced to buy separate tickets when going to Hungary from Algeria.
Algeria’s Minister of Tourism Nouri Abdelwahab said the move will not only allow passengers to travel between the countries, but also for commodities to be shipped increasing trade routes and improving tourism.
