The Houthi rebel groups as well as the party of the ousted, President Ali Abdullah Saleh, have demanded that Abdul Aziz Bin Hebtoor – the former governor Aden – should form a ‘national salvation government’ for Yemen, in a decree issued Sunday.
The demand, which is a renewal of a previous, similar, decree that was issued two months ago when the allies against the government formed a body known as the High Political Council. The ‘national salvation government’, if formed, would rule areas already under rebel control, including the capital Sanaa.
The High Political Council, which claims to be running the political, military and economic affairs of Yemen does not have any international recognition, except from Iran.
The international community is dealing with Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, head of the Yemen government, which retook, after more than a year and half of battles, a number of provinces in the south of the country, in addition to the temporary capital city of Aden.
