US reinforcements arrive in Iraq

The first batch of US military reinforcements have arrived in the Qayyarah Air Base, south of Iraq’s northern capital Mosul, the Nineveh Operations Command announced yesterday.

The representative of the Nineveh Provincial Council who is in command of operations, Abdul Rahman Al Wakaa, told Radio Sawa that the US reinforcements include “a large number of trucks carrying weapons and a diverse range of devices, electronic devices and weapons to disable improvised explosive devices.”

He said Daesh had “executed” three citizens of Mosul who had been arrested on charges of writing slogans against the organisation and calling people to rise up against it.
