Iran praises ‘constructive’ Egyptian effort in Syria crisis

Iran’s Shura Council Assistant Speaker for International Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian hailed Egypt’s efforts towards the Syrian crisis, describing them as “constructive”, Quds Press reported.

According to Iran’s official news agency, Fars, Abdollahian met with Yasser Othman, the official taking care of the Egyptian interests in Tehran, on Monday and said: “Iran and Egypt are two big and influential countries which can play a constructive role through mutual cooperation in the region to help sooth tensions.”

“Increased consultations between the two countries’ officials will be effective in improving the regional situation.”

The Egyptian diplomat expressed hope for a unified front by Islamic countries to allay tension in the region.
