Hamas supports Saudi against JASTA

Hamas announced yesterday that it supports Saudi Arabia against the US’ new JASTA law, AlKhaleejOnline reported.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu-Zuhri said: “Hamas stands beside the Saudi Kingdom against the American law JASTA which seeks to undermine Saudi sovereignty.”

Abu-Zuhri also called for the formation of an Arabic-Islamic alliance to face the “conspiracy” which is targeting the whole region.

JASTA is a proposed American law which allows victims of September 11 attacks to prosecute Saudi Arabia, on the basis that it had contributed to the attacks or at least failed to prevent its citizens from taking part in them.

American President Barack Obama vetoed the act, but both the American Senate and Congress overwhelmingly overturned his veto.

A number of the Islamic and Arab states announced their solidarity with Saudi Arabia against JASTA, including Turkey and Qatar.
