PA warns teachers who strike will be sacked

The Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Education has threatened to fire any teacher that takes part in strikes due to take place next week.

The teachers’ union had announced Tuesday to be a day of action where a complete strike in all schools across the occupied West Bank would be held. This was in response to teachers being arrested, punished and summoned by security forces.

They said further action would be taken if teachers continue to be penalised and attacked.

In response, the Ministry of Education warned that it will not stand idly by in the face of what it called “a systematic and obvious sabotage attempt and the insistence of some to blatantly contribute to destroying education in Palestine by provoking strikes in our schools.”
