Hamas yesterday condemned the Israeli occupation assault on the Gaza Strip, the Safa news agency reported.
Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu-Zuhri said: “We will not keep our arms crossed while the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip continues.”
Meanwhile, he called on the international community to rein in this Israeli escalation “which is meant to provoke Palestinians”.
Israeli warplanes targeted about 40 Palestinian sites across the Gaza Strip, including farmlands, as well as security compounds and resistance bases.
Israel said its shelling was in retaliation for a rocket allegedly fired shortly before into the south of the country from within the Strip.
No casualties were reported.
