Court asked not to postpone demolition of Palestinians homes in East Jerusalem

November 19, 2016 at 6:30 am

The Jerusalem Municipality has asked an Israeli court to allow the immediate demolition of 14 Palestinian homes in the Beit Hanina neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli Radio reported yesterday.

As many as 40 Palestinian families, 200 individuals, live in the building.

The municipality’s request comes after the Israeli Supreme Court ordered the evacuation of the illegal Israeli outpost of Amona in the occupied West Bank by the year’s end.

Israeli Ir Amim organisation accused Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat of using a price tag against the Palestinian population in East Jerusalem in order to strengthen his status within the Likud party.
