Netanyahu may face probe over receiving illegal funds

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might face a criminal investigation into receiving illegal funds between 2006 and 2009, an Israeli newspaper reported yesterday senior Israeli police officials saying.

In addition to the police officials, Israeli newspaper Maariv also reported informed sources in the Israeli Public Prosecutor’s Office as confirming that the police could investigate Netanyahu over receiving illegal funds for the elections.

Maariv also noted that there are accusations related to Netanyahu’s family illegally receiving presents and funds from funders abroad.

The police sources reportedly said: “Netanyahu should have been investigated a long time ago, especially as his chief of staff…was questioned under similar suspicions.”
