Egypt has implemented all the security recommendations issued by Russian security experts at its airports, AlMesryoon reported the Deputy Russian Minister of Transport Valery Okulov saying.
Speaking to journalists, Okulov said that the Russian experts are ready to carry out a new visit to the Egyptian airports in order to double check the security measures within seven to ten days if they receive an invitation from Cairo.
Russia stopped all of its flights from and to Egypt after a Russian plane exploded and killed the 224 Russians on board in October last year. Russia said it was a terrorist act; Egypt blamed Daesh affiliates in the Sinai.
To resume its flights, Russia requested Egypt implement more security measures in its airports and secure the resorts and other facilities tourists visit and stay in.
On 22 August, Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sharif Fathi announced that his country and Russia reached a roadmap to resume the mutual flights.
Fathi said that many Russian security experts visited Egypt and its airports to take a look at the new security measures, noting that flights would be resumed after the delegations’ report was reviewed.
