The Palestinian Authority (PA) Attorney General Ahmed Barak tasked the members of the Public Prosecution to establish a Cybercrime Taskforce, Ma’an news agency reported yesterday.
The decision comes after a previous order to establish a department on cybercrimes in the office of the Attorney General based on article one of the law of the judicial authority for 2002 and article three of the criminal procedural law for 2001.
Based on the aforementioned articles, the Attorney General tasked the formation of the Cybercrime Taskforce in every criminal prosecution in the occupied territories.
This measure is to keep up with the development of crimes in the Palestinian territories, as well as to reinforce the vision and the mission of the Public Prosecution to match the quantity and quality of the development of crimes.
