One third of all Arab homes in East Jerusalem are threatened with demolition because of Israel’s racist policies, Jerusalem District Governor, Adnan Husseini, revealed yesterday.

Speaking to Voice of Palestine radio yesterday, Husseini said homes being targeted are around the Old City including in Silwan. He added that the majority were threatened because they do not have the necessary building licences which are nearly impossible for Palestinians to attain.

Husseini said Palestinians build without permits not because they want to, but because the Israeli municipality does not grant them permits to build in order to lower the number of Palestinians in the city vis-a-vis Jewish settlers.
