Russia is ready to increase agricultural exports to Qatar in light of the Gulf crisis between Doha and other Arab countries, a senior official has said.

“Our state has a great export potential, and if it is in demand, it is certainly possible,” Russian news agency, Sputnik, quoted First Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dzhambulat Khatuov, as saying.

However, Khatuov noted, Qatar has not yet applied to the Russian ministry for help.

Officially, Qatar has not applied to the Agriculture Ministry, and it is unlikely that such an appeal may occur: we are on the international market and all this is done through exchange trading,

he explained.

The Foreign Minister of Qatar, Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassem Al-Thani, is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, tomorrow in Moscow.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen, Mauritania and the Comoros have severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on charges that it supports terrorism.
