EgyptAir’s office in Doha, Qatar, is working to facilitate the return of Egyptians using other carriers following the boycott of the Gulf state by Cairo, Al-Qabas newspaper reported yesterday.

The Kuwaiti daily quoted an EgyptAir source as saying that passengers have the right to return their tickets after the airline suspended flights to and from Doha. He added that all EgyptAir carriers have been instructed to facilitate the situation for Egyptians until new instructions are issued about flights between the two countries.

On 5 June, Saudi Arabia and a number of Arab countries, including Egypt, severed diplomatic ties and suspended flights to and from Qatar in a coordinated move over allegations that Doha supports “terrorism”. A charge Qatar vehemently denies.

Tickets would be more expensive than usual as airlines capitalised on the political climate and limitations and because customers would need to purchase two tickets, one to a country which has maintained relations with Doha and then onwards from there to Egypt.
