Qatar does not intend to deploy military troops to fight in the battlefield in Syria, Qatari Defence Minister Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah, announced today.
“We [Qatar] have no intention to send any troops to fight in Syria,” Al-Attiyah told reporters in a press conference which took place on the side lines of Russia’s International Military-Technical Forum (Army 2017).

Al-Attiyah noted that his government supports the Syrian truce initiative, which was jointly brokered by Russia, the US and Turkey.

He added that Qatar is interested in cooperating with Russia in the defence sector, particularly in modern Russian technologies.
Army-2017 was launched yesterday by the Russian defence ministry. Over 100 countries around the world participated in the exhibition, which is held at the Patriot Military Theme Park located on the outskirts of Moscow.
