Former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has warned that Saudi Arabia wants to divide his country. He added that he is prepared to summon tens of thousands of young fighters and military personnel to fight on the front lines to prevent this from happening.

Saleh is the leader of the General People’s Congress and made his comments during a speech in Al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sana’a on the anniversary of the party’s foundation. He accused the government-in-exile of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi of treason and of plotting with the Arab coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia to “divide and fragment” the nation. “Being aware is in itself a weapon that shall be used against those who want to divide the nation,” he said.

Since the beginning of the war in Yemen, Saleh pointed out, the General People’s Congress has sent volunteers from the military, leaders and young men to fight at the front.
