Palestinian embassy confirms that Egyptian army has detained Qeshta

Abu Hamdan, the brother of Abdel Qader Qeshta a missing Palestinian man, revealed that the Palestinian embassy has informed them that their brother was being detained by the Egyptian army.

Abu Hamdan told Al-Resala Net on Thursday that the embassy had informed them that it had filed an official letter to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and was waiting for a written response. Qeshta was detained Sunday evening at the Zahra checkpoint of the Egyptian army, while on his way to the Hajj.

Ambassador Jamal al-Shubaki denied the abduction of Qeshta immediately after the incident, while his brother confirmed that the embassy had officially informed the family that he was being held by the army.

He said there are no news about his brother and there was no information other than that he was being held by the army.

Two years ago, Egyptian authorities kidnapped four young Palestinians who were on their way to treatment in Turkey, and denied their involvement in the operation before pictures appeared on Al Jazeera channel confirming that these young men are being held in La Zuguli prison in Alexandria.
