Finnish official appointed head of Europe police mission in Palestine

The Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the European Union has appointed a senior official in the Finnish Interior Ministry, Kauko Aaltomaa, as Head of the EU Police Mission for Palestinian Territory.

A statement issued by the PSC announced that Aaltomaa, Director General of the Police Department, will assume his duties in Ramallah on 1 October.

The mission assists the PA in building efficiently functioning police and criminal justice institutions. It started in 2006 and will end its current term on 30 June 2018.
