Saudi preacher collapses, dies after prayers

A video was posted on social media documenting the last moments in the life of renowned Saudi preacher Dr Khaled Al-Quraishi.

The professor of Dawa and Islamic Culture at the Umm Al-Qura University died on Wednesday after the afternoon (asr) prayer while sitting in the mosque’s mihrab in the holy city of Makkah, according to the Akhbar24 website.

Al-Quraishi was preparing to hold a talk before he lost his balance and fell on his left side and passed away.

The mosque’s muezzin, the man who calls for prayer, Hussein Mohammed Aseb told Saudi newspaper Okaz that after Al-Quraishi was transferred to a nearby clinic, doctors told them that he had died of a heart attack.

He was buried yesterday at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
