Turkey denies deployment of Russian troops on its territory

The Turkish president’s office denied media reports claiming Russian troops will be deployed in the country during the coming period and described the reports are “incorrect”.

A spokesman for the presidency, Ibrahim Kalın said at a press conference held at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara that the purchase of the Russian made S-400 missile air defence systems “does not mean the deployment of Russian troops in Turkey”.

He stressed that the deployment of the “S-400 missile defence system inside Turkey “will be preceded by training courses” adding that technicians from the two countries “will exchange visits in this regard”.
