Israeli police have released Jawad Siyam, the director of the Wadi Hilweh Information Centre in Silwan, on the condition of him staying away from the Damascus Gate, as well as Salahuddin and Sultan Suleiman streets in Jerusalem for two weeks. He was released on the condition he pay $1,500 bail.
Siyam said Israeli police raided Siyam’s house in Silwan and summoned him for questioning at the Salahuddin Street police station. They questioned him regarding releasing Palestinian flags and Palestinian flag-coloured balloons into the sky to coincide with US Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to the Buraq Wall. Siyam added that the detective questioning him accused him of inciting against and harassing an important visiting diplomat with balloons and flags.
He was also questioned about the information centre and his monitoring and tracking of violations committed in Jerusalem.
