Saudi Arabia’s Attorney General has ordered that anyone found abusing tribes in the south of the country be prosecuted and face up to five years in jail along with a fine of up to three million riyals ($800,00), Okaz newspaper reported.

Legal sources told the paper that anyone found using social media to circulate and produce material which harms public order, religious values and national unity will be subjected to the new legislation.

The sources said defendants will be transferred to the criminal court which is specialised in dealing with these cases after an investigation is carried out by public prosecutors.
