The daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Raghad Saddam, has denied the circulating news reports claiming her support for demonstrations called for by Sadrist Movement leader Muqtada Al-Sadr, the Arabi21 website reported.
Raghad posted a photo with a fake news sign on her official Twitter account following the circulation of news claiming that she gave a speech offering support for the Sadrist Movement protests.
This is not the first time that Raghad has been pulled into political battles amongst Shia parties, the London-based Arabic website pointed out.
On 31 July, Raghad denied that she saluted supporters of the Sadrist Movement after they stormed Parliament and started an open sit-in against nominations for the position of prime minister by Iraq’s Coordination Framework, a pro-Iran Shia alliance.
In response, supporters of the Coordination Framework launched demonstrations in Baghdad’s Green Zone.
