The Palestinian Authority (PA)’s Court of First Instance in Nablus yesterday extended the detention of the head of the Palestinian Engineers’ Syndicate in the city, Yazan Musbah Jaber, for 15 days, Safa news agency reported.

On Thursday, intelligence officials kidnapped the engineer from his car.

He has previously been detained by the PA security services, tortured and spent several months in prison.

Jaber is a former prisoner, who has served several terms inside Israeli jails. He is head of the Association of Professional Syndicates and member of several national bodies.

The Palestinian Engineers’ Syndicate condemned Jaber’s kidnapping and detention and called for his immediate release.

Hamas also condemned his detention and called for his immediate release along with all political detainees whose detention, it added, only serves the occupation.
