Colombia has called for cuts to supplies of coal to Israel in response to the occupation state’s continued attacks on Gaza.

Colombia is Israel’s biggest coal supplier, having sold it about $450 million of the fuel in 2023, according to Bloomberg News.

According to the news site, the Ministry of Trade is seeking limits on shipments from a committee on tariffs and foreign trade.

Bogota has been very critical of Israel since Tel Aviv began its bombing campaign in Gaza in October 2023.

Last month, President Gustavo Petro severed diplomatic relations with Israel, he went on to urge the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Netanyahu will not stop the genocide,” Petro said in a post on X, suggesting the need for an “international arrest warrant from the ICC.”
