Morocco announced yesterday that it possesses 70 per cent of the world’s phosphate reserves, making it the largest holder of this resource globally, Anadolu reported.

Minister of Energy Transition, Leila Benali, informed the House of Representatives that the country’s share of global phosphate reserves is 69.44 per cent, while last year, Morocco’s exports in this sector amounted to approximately 110.9 billion dirhams ($11 billion), representing 26 per cent of the nation’s total exports.

Rabat’s annual phosphate production exceeds 30 million tonnes, Benali stated.

Morocco, she added, has established an internal pipeline for phosphate, representing a technological revolution in phosphate transportation.
