The Turkish Parliament yesterday passed in the first reading a bill aimed at revoking the citizenship of Turkish nationals who participated in the Israeli military’s genocidal war in Gaza and to confiscate their assets.
The bill was proposed by the Huda Par (Free Cause) party led by Zekeriya Yapicioglu, who said media reports point to the presence of about 4,000 Turkish-Israeli citizens who participated with the Israeli occupation army in the mass massacres targeting Palestinians.
He revealed that the real number of dual nationals who support compulsory service in the Israeli occupation army is higher, adding: “We cannot remain silent about those who participate in war crimes and return to Turkiye to continue their lives normally, as if they had not committed anything.”
“We believe that Turkish-Israeli dual citizens who join the Israeli army and commit crimes against humanity should be stripped of their citizenship and have their assets confiscated,” said Serkan Ramanli, a member of the Free Cause Party. “Therefore, we are presenting this bill.”
“According to international agreements, we must actively combat genocide and crimes against humanity. However, the Ministry of Justice has not taken any steps in this direction so far,” he continued. “Why have we been waiting for nine months?”
