Sudanese Justice Minister, Muawiya Osman Mohamed Khair, said yesterday that the government will pursue the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) through international courts and forums.

The statement was made during a meeting with the acting governor of Kassla, retired Major General Al-Sadiq Mohamed Lazraq, as part of Khair’s visit to the state. According to the Sudan News Agency, SUNA, he was accompanied by the ministry’s undersecretary, Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim.

The meeting also discussed matters related to the regional sub-committees addressing human trafficking and the monitoring of international cases.

The Justice Ministry’s plans to pursue the RSF on the international stage come after the militia’s commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (known as Hemedti), called on the UN Security Council to suspend Sudan’s membership in the United Nations. Hemedti cited the absence of a legitimate government in Sudan following what he referred to as the 25 October coup.
