Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced the US Congress for “shamelessly” celebrating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose hands are stained with the blood of Palestinians.

This came in a speech he delivered on Friday during his address to the High Technology Incentive Programme Promotion Meeting at the Ataturk Cultural Centre in Istanbul.

Erdogan criticised: “The whole world watched and saw how a genocidal murderer was applauded in the American Congress. Think about those who killed nearly 40,000 children, women and the elderly; the House of Representatives applauds them.”

“So, to say, those who teach the entire world about democracy and human rights have no qualms about holding the Hitler of our time in high esteem,” stated Erdogan, referring to Netanyahu.

Erdogan noted: “We are faced with an abdication of reason that hosts a butcher who has the blood of 150 thousand Gazans on his hands and, not content with that, applauds his speech full of delirium.”

On Wednesday evening, Netanyahu delivered a speech before the US Congress, during which he made many allegations about his war on Gaza that contradict international and United Nations reports. His speech coincided with massive protests in Washington demanding to stop arming Israel.

Erdogan stressed: “The global system established to protect the economic, political, military and diplomatic interests of the winners of World War II has begun to become obsolete. We have long seen signs that the system has lost its ability to solve problems. Looking at the crises in recent history alone is enough to show that the system has already raised the flag of bankruptcy.”

“For example, the conflict in Syria has been ongoing for 13 years. The war in Ukraine has continued uninterrupted for two and a half years. Yemen has not achieved stability, and now Sudan is in turmoil. In Gaza, 16,000 innocent children and 40,000 civilians have lost their lives. The genocide has not been stopped for nearly ten months,” Erdogan conveyed.
