Turkiye coastguard rescues 94 irregular migrants off Izmir coast

The Turkish Coastguard rescued 94 irregular migrants, including children, in the Cesme and Seferihisar districts of Izmir, according to a statement from the Turkish Coastguard command, Turkish local media reports.

According to the report, the rescue operation began when the Coastguard received information about a group of irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast of Cesme. A Coastguard ship was dispatched, and 66 migrants, including 17 children, were rescued from life rafts that had been pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities.

In a separate incident off the coast of Seferihisar, the Coastguard rescued 28 irregular migrants, including 8 children, from a rubber boat that had also been pushed back by Greek authorities.

All rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for processing.
