Al Jazeera journalist Ismail Al-Ghoul and the cameraman he worked with Rami Al-Refee have been killed in an Israeli strike on Gaza.

One of the men’s colleagues, Rawaa Auge, said they were killed in a “targeted Israeli strike.” Auge added: “You were very brave to decide to continue reporting until today despite the direct targeting of journalists by Israel.”

According to reports online, they were killed along with other journalists while working in front of assassinated Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s house in Gaza’s Al Shati refugee camp.

Their deaths bring to 120 the number of journalists killed by Israel in the besieged Strip since October 2024. No foreign journalists have been allowed into Gaza since Israel launched its genocidal bombing campaign.

Al-Ghoul, who was the Arabic correspondent for Al Jazeera, had previously been detained by Israeli occupation forces and held for 12 hours in March during which he was severely beaten.
