Columbia Uni president resigns after Gaza protests
The president of New York's Columbia University, Minouche Shafik, has resigned after criticism of her handling of Gaza solidarity protests. Students not only faced attack from Israel supporters but many were seriously hurt after Shafik sent in riot police to break up Columbia's Palestine camp in April. Pro-Palestine students took to the streets to celebrate her resignation as they continue to demand their university sever its financial ties with Israel and for an immediate end to the violence in Gaza.
