Former member of Israel’s War Cabinet, Benny Gantz, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of delaying reaching a deal which would end the war on Gaza and allow for a prisoner exchange deal, Israeli media reported.
“It is time for you to stop tending to the fate of the government, and only tend to the fate of the country,” Gantz advised Netanyahu. Calling on the prime minister to: “For once, be brave.”
Earlier, the Israeli news outlet Walla cited senior officials as saying that talks being held in Qatar represent the last opportunity to reach an agreement on Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby said Washington has urged all parties to come to the negotiating table in Doha in an attempt to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Adding that the US believed Iran has not backed down from its threat to strike back at Israel following the assassination of Hamas chief, Ismail Haniyeh, on a trip to Tehran and Hezbollah Commander, Fuad Shukr, at the end of July.
