PFLP: Escalation of settler crimes calls for formation of popular protection committees

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said that the widespread brutal aggression committed by settlers on the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya, last Thursday evening, which included burning and vandalising property and abusing residents of the village, embodies the fascist terrorist nature of the Israeli occupation and its settlement tools. It added that this is part of an eradication plan to uproot the Palestinian people and destroy their existence in the occupied West Bank.

In a press statement obtained by Safa News Agency on Friday, the PFLP mourned Rashid Mahmoud Sada, who was martyred by the bullets of settler gangs in the village, stressing that his blood will remain a torch to continue the resistance and will escalate it until the occupation is defeated.

It stressed that: “These atrocities committed by settler gangs are green-lighted and fully coordinated by the Zionist political system, and with direct support from the fascist and racist government headed by war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.”

The PFLP called on the masses of the people in the occupied West Bank to rise against the crimes of the occupation and the terrorism of the settlers and to escalate all forms of resistance throughout the West Bank, stressing the need to form popular protection committees in all areas of the occupied West Bank to confront the attacks of the settlers.

It also demanded that the Palestinian Authority assume its national responsibility and direct its weapons and soldiers towards protecting and defending Palestinians against the crimes of the occupation’s soldiers and settlers instead of against the resistance.
