Low-cost Irish airline Ryanair said yesterday that it has cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv to seven destinations worldwide until 3 September.

This decision follows Virgin Atlantic’s cancellation of all flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of September and Delta Air Lines’ suspension of flights throughout August, according to Israeli news site Globes.

The suspension of flights to and from Israel comes amidst escalating regional tensions following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh during a visit to Iran and Hezbollah Commander Fuad Shukr in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. Though Iran and Hamas blame Israel for Haniyeh’s murder, Tel Aviv has not commented on his assassination, but did claim responsibility to Shukr’s murder.

Several other airlines, including United Airlines, Air India, Air Canada, Vueling, American Airlines, and Korean Air, have suspended flights to and from Israel until the end of October, while EasyJet and Cathay Pacific have ceased their services until March 2025.

Meanwhile, the Lufthansa Group, Swiss International Air Lines and Austrian Airlines have extended their flight cancellations to Tel Aviv until 21 August.
