The Iran-aligned Houthi movement in Yemen has praised the Lebanese Hezbollah’s attack on Israel Sunday, stating that their own assault is “inevitable,” German Press Agency (DPA) reported.
Earlier on Sunday, Hezbollah announced that it had completed the first phase of its retaliatory operation following the killing of a senior military commander. In response, the Israeli army targeted sites in southern Lebanon, describing the action as “self-defence.”
The Houthi political bureau congratulated Hezbollah and its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, on what it termed a “significant and courageous attack” and a “strong and effective response” against Israel, as reported by Al Masirah, the media outlet affiliated with the Yemeni militant group.
The bureau further stated, according to the channel, “We affirm that the Yemeni response is inevitable.”
The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several attacks against Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October last year. They have also targeted ships in the Red Sea, declaring that they aim to put an end to Israeli assaults on the Gaza Strip.
