Israeli occupation forces have rescued a prisoner of war in the southern Gaza Strip, the military said today according to Reuters.
Fifty-two-year-old Qaid Farhan Al-Qadi, a member of the Bedouin community in southern Israel, had been transferred to hospital and his medical condition was normal, it added.
The operation comes a week after Israel recovered the bodies of six prisoners of war who had been killed in its bombing campaign in Gaza.
Talks have continued to try to agree to a halt to the bombing of Gaza and the return of more than 100 hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
“We are doing everything to save the hostages,” the head of the military, Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi, said in a statement.
Israeli television stations showed a military helicopter landing at a hospital as medical staff stood by.
Al-Qadi was taken hostage in Kibbutz Magen on 7 October.
Israel’s government has been accused of neglecting the prisoners of war held in Gaza in an effort to maintain its position in power.
